Brief Introduction

　　Founded in 1993, China Medicinal Biotech Association was sponsored by Chen Minzhang, former minister of Ministry ofHealth and greatly supported by various medical administrative departments. The members of the Association are mainly the units dealing with study, production and application of medical biological technologies. With its several subsidiary committees of special areas, the Association gathered a batch of managers, entrepreneurs, and experts who are engaged in the medical biological technologies. The tenet of the Association is to hold together the scientific staff and entrepreneurs throughout the country who are engaged in study, development, production, application and operation management as well as teaching of the medical biological technologies, so as to provide services for the membership units and decision-making of the relevant governmental departments, protect the lawful rights and interests of the membership units and the members, carry out various policies on the work of national medical biological technologies, endeavor to boosting the prosperity and development of the medical biological technologies around national key emphasis in work of the medical biological technologies, accelerate the advancement of the medical biological technologies, as well as promote the development of the whole industry. The Association is under the business instruction and supervision of Ministry of Health, State Drug Administration and Ministry of Civil Affairs.

Working Range

1. Provide information services for the members and the membership units. By a rapid and accurate means, collect, sort out, study and provide the most advanced domestic and foreign information in the field of development and application of the medical biological technologies. Provide reference for the members and the membership units through Proceeding of China Medicinal Biotech Association or other effective channels and means.

2. According to the real situation of China, introduce and spread the latest medical biological technologies and the relevant products and assist the governmental departments to organize experts to carry out argumentations and evaluations, as well as organize scientific academies and enterprises to jointly tackle key problems in order to produce elaborate works in the field of scientific research and production.

3. Hold proseminars and special training courses in various forms, thus to exchange studies, train talents and greatly spread the knowledge of the medical biological technologies. Constantly improve the level of academic conferences to meet the requirements of scientific development.

4. Carry out investigation and study on the basic situation of the industry, implement research and analysis on the basic information, and grasp the developing trends of the medical biological technology and its industry, so as to provide the concerning governmental departments with technical consultation and rational suggestion on industrial development, policies on the medical biological technologies, industrial technical standards and industrial price.

5. Hoist the technical cooperation between the membership units, accelerate the advancement of the industrial technologies and level of management, as well as boost the transformation and industrialization of the fruits of medical biological technologies of our country.

6. Carry out international academic exchanges, expand international technical cooperation, and introduce capital, technologies and products.

7. Translate and edit works in the field of medical biological technology.

8. Organize the members and the membership units to carry out various activities that are helpful to the industrial development and social advancement.

9. Comply with laws to protect the lawful rights and interests of the members and the membership units from any infringement.

10. Undertake the assignment entrusted by the government and the related department.

Norm of Industry

  In 2001, under the support and instruction of Biological Produce Section of Department of Registration under the State Food and Drug Administration and Chinese Medical Biological Produce Assay Institute, the Association made a unified norm of industry and a standard of quality control on bovine and issued qualification certificates for the qualified enterprises.

Investigation of Industry

  In 1998, entrusted by Department of Science and Education of Ministry of Health, the Association carried out an investigation on national key researching and producing units of medical biological technologies. The investigation report was submitted to Ministry of Health and Ministry of Science and Technology, which provided a scientific basis for the governmental departments to make the development strategy and policies on the medical biological technologies of our country.

Entrustment of Government

• In 1998, the Association assisted Department of Science and Education of Ministry of Health to organize the related experts to carry out special discussion and argumentation on stem cells library of umbilical blood, and assisted to draft out Measures on Management of Collection and Storage of Umbilical Blood and Application Study on Stem Cells of Umbilical Blood

• In 1998, entrusted by the State Development Planning Commission, the Association held the hearings on the prices of the products including EPO, blood produce and so on.

• In 2000, entrusted by Chinese Biological Technology Development Center of Ministry of Science and Technology, the Association drafted out Suggestion for the State on Carrying out Favorable Policies on Taxation of the New Drugs in Category 1 and Category 2.

• In 2000, entrusted by Department of Science and Technology of Ministry of Health, the Association drafted out Status quo, Problem and Its Countermeasures of Protection of Intellectual Property Rights of Chinese Biological Technologies and participated in the work of drafting the Tenth Five-Year Plan for the Medical Biological Technology of Our Country and the Program for the Long-term Objective to the Year 2015. 

• In 2002, the Association assisted Department of Science and Education of Ministry of Health to draft out Measures on the Management of International Cooperation on Medical Scientific Studies.

Information Platform

  The Association hosts Proceeding of Chinese Medical Biological Association, which is providing the industrial information and policy instructions for the members and the membership units of the Association.

  In 2002, the Association established a website for China Medicinal Biotech Association.

Services for the Members

• In 1998, according to the demand of the domestic market, the Association held all the technical argumentation meetings for introducing Aoda blood plasma technology, which reduced the risk for the enterprises in decision-making and strengthened the confidence on the project exploitation.

• In 2001, when Shanghai Huayuanxin New Medical Biological Engineering Co., Ltd was founded, the Association was invited to organize more than 300 representatives to attend “Proseminar of Clinical Application of Biological Diagnostic Reagent”. Those representatives included heads and experts from various centers for clinical laboratory, departments of intracardiac disease, departments of pediatrics, departments of infectious disease throughout the country.

• The Association has carried out many clinical entrustment studies on new drugs.

• The Association has also organized various activities for spreading and application of new technologies and new drugs for the membership units.

Foreign Exchanges

  The Association has organized experts abroad to review the researching and application situation of biological technologies for many times, and also welcomed the foreign experts on biological technologies and the principals of enterprises to exchange technologies and negotiate for cooperation.

  The Association has established a sound relationship with foreign organizations and groups of biological technologies, as well as foreign business institutions in China.
