National Development and Reform Commission: Chinese bio-industry is facing opportunity of expanding market

The 7th China Bio-industry Convention has been held successfully on June 20-23. It is the largest annual event for the biotechnology industry in China, has been held in the southwest city of Kunming from June 20 to 23. It is co-held by our association (China Medicinal Biotechnology Association) and other associations.
In the event, Zhang Xiaoqiang, the deputy director of National Development and Reform Commission gave lecture about the current situation of Chinese bio-industry. He said:'Chinese bio-industry is facing opportunity of expanding market and the challenge of global economic integrity. Now is the period for bio-industry to seize opportunity and ride the momentum. Bio-industry is still expected to lead the emerging industries with the growth rate of 20%. He also mentioned that the National Development and Reform Commission had six following considerations during the next step work about bio-industry.
The first one is to make good industrial plan in order to achieve higher quality development of bio-medicine, bio-medical engineering, bio-agriculture, bio-environmental protection, bio-energy, bio-services and other key areas industries, and to developing industrial chain collaboration and internationalization. The second consideration is to promote the development of industrial agglomeration. The third one is to accelerate technology transfer and application. The fourth one is to optimize the policy and regulation that promote the industrial development. The fifth one is to support the development of enterprise internationalization. They will actively explore new model of cooperation and obtain international cooperation at a higher level. The sixth one is to encourage exploiting new business model.
